The formation of Midnight River Choir was nothing short of a force of nature that now translates seamlessly during their live shows. This band needs no labels or comparisons. Their music speaks volumes about who and what they are. Their lives have been woven together by a strong thread of energy both on and off stage. That energy is raw and natural and soaked up from the earth through their bare feet. They believe that what you get is what you give and they give everything they have to their crowds. When that kind of energy lands back at the feet of the boys, it is something of supreme intensity… and no one ever forgets it.
SAME SHIRT, DIFFERENT DAY, the most recent release from independent Americana artist Rodney Rice, uncovers some of its most vivid images of Rice’s upbringing in the poignant and autobiographical “Memoirs of Our Youth” — a song inspired by a conversation with a friend. “A buddy called me up one night and said, ‘Rodney, I’ve got the perfect line for a song: ‘The days go on forever, but the years just fly right by.’ That one line just brought the song out, and everything else fell into place. It’s always nice when a song falls in your lap”. Understanding and appreciating Rice’s songs which vibrates with memorable melodies rooted in the critical elements of Americana is a solid foundation of thoroughly incisive and engaging lyrics. From unflinching portraits of the working man’s plight to stark, confessional love songs, you will leave the show a fan of this true independent artist. Rice is now based in Colorado but perfected his stagecraft from years spent in Texas where he got to see many of the fellow troubadours that he admired perform regularly. Rodney examines the human condition through a songwriter’s lens, and his songs, stories, and showmanship are inspired by the musical explorers that came before him but ultimately shaped by his uniquely fresh perspective.
