Velvet Denim isn’t just a band; it’s what happens when a massive, slightly cluttered, and intensely beloved second-hand store explodes onto a stage. If you could turn a thrift shop into a band, it would be them—perfectly mismatched collection of quality goods that smell faintly of patchouli and nostalgia. They don’t just play songs; they thrift-flip them, turning musical hand-me-downs into glittering, must-have essentials.
Their style is rooted in the belief that all great American music—from vintage classic rock and smooth soul to outlaw country and pure pop gold—belongs together on the same clearance rack. We play the dusty bangers you forgot you loved and some shiny new treasures that fit right in. Come wander the worn-out aisles of nostalgia. The Morningside String Band is based out of Steamboat Springs, CO. The band formed in 2019 originally as an acoustic trio, but they’ve since expanded to a 5 piece, adding percussion and electric guitar, though they still often play smaller venues as a trio. The current lineup includes: Craig Thornhill (acoustic guitar, vocals) / Paul Geppert (mandolin and vocals) / Tim Cunningham (upright bass) / Courtney La Zier (electric guitar and vocals) and Gabe Hedstrom (drums/percussion/jokes).
The band tends to have an eclectic mix of songs in their live shows, mixing originals and covers, rooted in blues, reggae, bluegrass, funk, jam and rock. All the members of the band have lived in various parts of Colorado for decades and played in many other music projects over the years. The band’s sounds lends its self to live performances, adapting their setlists and jams/arrangements to the energy of the crowds and venue. The band is known around Steamboat for playing festive outdoor gigs in the spring and summer.

In 2025 the band was officially inducted into the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame! Each member is now a Colorado Country Music Hall of Famer and has performed in (and out) of Colorado for more than 20 years. We are honored to carry such a distinction.
A Brother’s Fountain was started by three unrelated “brothers” – Justin Fountain, Ryan Guillen, and Ro Calvillo – in 2012. Soon after, Justin’s biological brother AJ joined up, learning the base because they really didn’t need two acoustic guitars in a foursome, and that was it: off to Redrocks.
No, not really. Not yet. But that’s never been the goal of this music project. They based this band in friendship, in brotherhood, in having a fun time outside, and while the band has gotten much larger, the venues have gotten bigger, and the crowds have grown (dream come true), it’s still that way for this Fort Collins ten-piece, folk-inspired group.
Their songs range from rowdy and anthemic to reflective, laid-back sing-alongs. It’s easy to remember the lyrics, and by your second show, you’ll be singing “I’m just a Chipmunk” or “Get your ass outside”. It’s their guarantee, and if not, pick out a free merch item (hats or t-shirts, no fanny packs; those are the best sellers).
