Back by popular demand is local band, ‘LOCAL 1 4 5’! LOCAL 1 4 5 is a new project spearheaded by Cal Cramer involving some great local musicians. Each show will feature a set of music from a specific artist, genre or a musical theme. This week will focus on the music of Tom Petty!
Cal Cramer provides a unique combination of musicianship, technical expertise and business experience. His involvement in the music industry spans more than five decades. He began the serious pursuit of a career as a musician and songwriter in the 1970’s seeking his first recording contract. His band ‘Breezewood Arc’ toured regionally as headliners and nationally in support of charting acts. Subsequently, his studio experiences and interest in the technical aspects of the art led to touring as a F.O.H. Engineer and Stage Manager. The 1980’s brought him to California where he focused on polishing his engineering skills in state-of-the-art studios and in the live sound environment, working with prominent artists of the SF bay area and adding his vocal and guitar talents on sessions. In the 90’s his passion to perform brought him back to festival stages with a band comprised of veteran musicians. He designed and built his own recording studio and has produced projects ranging from full production CD’s to songwriter demos encompassing several musical genres. The demand for Cal’s engineering skills led him to establish a sound company which quickly gained regional success in California and Arizona when he made the move to the high desert. He was the technical advisor, stage manager and FOH engineer for ‘Rumours – A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac’. Since relocating to Colorado he has been recognized for his musicianship, his voice and his ‘ears’, providing sound and engineering for some of the area’s best bands. Although he still enjoys consulting in the sound and production arena, there is no substitute for performing which is his primary focus these days.
